In this interactive session, educators will explore the fundamentals of AI, build a common language for discussing its applications, and gain practical experience with a variety of AI tools. Participants will explore the workings of generative AI, address crucial safety and ethical considerations, and discover innovative ways to enhance teaching and learning experiences. Attendees will develop the confidence to leverage AI in their instructional practices. This will be Part 1 of an overall overview of AI.

This course guides SLPs in distinguishing language disorders from language differences in multilingual learners through an ethical lens. Participants will explore culturally responsive practices and craft individualized, culturally sensitive goals for students.
Participants will explore evidence-based supported writing strategies tailored to meet the diverse needs of learners with moderate to severe disabilities, including those with communication, cognitive, and motor challenges. The session will focus on practical approaches to embedding writing instruction into daily routines using tools such as sentence frames, graphic organizers, alternative pencils, AAC supports, and modeled writing. Emphasis will be placed on strategies that promote student engagement, independence, and expressive language development while aligning with IEP goals and state writing standards. Participants will leave with a toolbox of adaptable strategies, sample lesson materials, and planning templates that can be immediately implemented in their classrooms.
